Ghosts have resistance to most forms of damage a party would put out at low levels, including all basic weapon attacks from nonmagical items. With a CR of four, the numbers should crunch out to proving a moderately difficult encounter for a quintet of third level characters. That's hilariously wrong. It's only natural that the monster would find its way into the annals of D&D, and because of their widespread familiarity throughout pop culture, it may prove tempting. Setting your Caspers and your Swayzes aside, most ghosts are terrifying undead creatures caught between this life and the next who are ready to harass any of those living who disturb them.
